Acupuncture for Celiac Disease
Celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder affecting primarily the small intestine. The symptoms include gastrointestinal problems such as chronic diarrhea, abdominal distention, malabsorption, loss of appetite, and among children failure to grow normally.
How does acupuncture work for Celiac Disease?
Acupuncture reduces the damage of the membranes, tissues, and organs, caused by an overactive immune response by improving energy and vitality to reduce or get rid of inflammation and diarrhea; alleviating or removing pain or distention; and addressing the wide variety of symptoms that occur. Acupuncture treats the root of the disease by putting the immune system back into balance.
Course of treatment
There are 10-15 acupuncture sessions in one course of treatment. Treatment frequency depends on individual condition. Chinese herbs work synergistically with acupuncture.
