Testimonial

I am a 55-year-old female who was in a motor vehicle accident resulting in the diagnosis of Mild Traumatic Brain Injury (MTBI). I had chronic neck pain, headaches, fatigue, muscular weakness, sensory processing, articulation and memory deficits.

Because of Dr. Shan Kong's strong reputation for treatment of many diagnoses, my family and I decided that I should try using her acupuncture skills for the treatment of my MTBI and the symptoms associated with it.

Today I, as well as the members on my medical team, can confidently attest to the positive results from Dr. Kong’s treatment.

Dr. Kong is professional, knowledgeable and sincere. She exhibits exceptional skills in acupuncture and Chinese medicine. I do recommend Dr. Shan Kong to anyone seeking additional help in his or her recovery process.

How Does Acupuncture Work for Mild Closed Head Injury?

Acupuncture causes an increase in local blood flow with a resulting increase in nutrients and immune cells. These are the ingredients for healing. There is also evidence that acupuncture tends to have a balancing effect on brain chemistry, hormone levels, and immune cell function and have a beneficial effect on the healing of the brain and /or nerves after injuries. Because the brain controls everything in the body, a balanced brain should allow for more effective healing.

Course of treatment

There are 15 sessions in one course of treatment (This varies for individuals). For difficult, complex or long standing conditions several groups of the 15 sessions may be recommended. It is best to begin treatments twice a week initially, then gradually change to once a week, and then decrease to every two weeks, based on each individual patient's situation. It is recommended to begin the acupuncture treatments as soon as possible after the injury. Chinese herbs work synergistically with acupuncture.
