Testimonials
Susan
Thank you so much for helping me and my husband to bring our little baby into the world. You are an amazing and compassionate and skilled doctor and I don't think this would have been possible without you.
Higgins Tegan
Thank you so much for your caring, compassion and kindness as I went through the IVF process. My first cycle was cancelled and my second cycle was not going well. My doctor from University of Michigan Hospital recommended I see acupuncturist Dr. Shan Kong. I did and immediately my cycle turned around for the better, more eggs started developing! I attribute the turn around to you... Again, you are a wonderful gifted doctor who really cares.
Success rate
Dr. Kong's success rate was 82.75%, based on her study of 120 infertile patients of IVF. This is more than double the average success rate in the U.S. for IVF (The Department of Health and Human Services Center for Disease Control and Prevention cite a 41% success rate for IVF ). For couples who want a natural pregnancy, the success rate is higher if both partners are treated. In Western medicine, male imbalances are usually not fully evaluated or are ignored.
How does acupuncture work for Infertility?
The acupuncture infertility treatments promote the following physical changes:
- Increases blood flow to the uterus
- Promotes thickening of the uterine lining
- Improves functioning of the ovaries to produce better quality eggs
- Lowers elevated FSH numbers
- Stimulates hormones to produce a larger number of follicles
- Relaxes the body and decreases stress levels
- Decreases the possibility of miscarriage
- Identifies potential disease that may affect fertility
- Reduces side-effects from medications
Course of treatment
Assistance with IVF or IUI patients will require at least 12 acupuncture sessions before the embryos transfer or IUI insemination. If sperm are provided by the husband, it is the most beneficial for the couple to have joint acupuncture treatments. Since acupuncture improves the quantity and quality of sperm and improves the overall quality of the semen, it increases the chances of creating a healthy, viable embryo and assists in a more secure implantation. Patients who wish to become pregnant naturally will require 24 acupuncture sessions, twice a week for 12 weeks. Then Dr. Kong will reassess the progress of the acupuncture infertility treatments. Again, treating both the male and female is extremely important for the effectiveness of all the acupuncture infertility treatments. Chinese herbs work synergistically with acupuncture.
