ABOUT DR. SHAN KONG
Dr. Shan Kong, licensed acupuncturist, a physician who excels in classical Chinese medicine and acupuncture, has been practicing acupuncture and Chinese medicine for over 30 years. In her youth, she experienced 10 years of upheaval during the Cultural Revolution in China; these experiences have shaped the course of her medical career and distinguished it from others.
Dr. Kong comes from a highly esteemed family that has practiced Chinese medicine and acupuncture for seven generations. Her acupuncture and Chinese medicine training started at the age of 5, under the guidance of her father and grandfather who were both prominent doctors and known authorities in their field. At the age of 7, she successfully administered acupuncture to a seizuring neighbor. During the Cultural Revolution and at the young age of 17, Kong was forced to flee to rural China with the entire youth population of the country. While there, she began to formally practice Chinese medicine and acupuncture. She worked diligently and tirelessly from sunrise to sundown, often waking up in the middle of the night to help those in need. Her inspiring medical ethics and her successful treatment of patients gave her a reputation of excellence that spread near and far. Two years later, she became quite well-known in the medical field and was invited to teach acupuncture classes to physicians with degrees in Western medicine by the Harbin (Medical) Health Bureau (the top medical authority in a city of 4 million people). In the same year, Kong was promoted to work as an acupuncturist by the Harbin City Government at the Harbin 6th Hospital.
In 1978, in an effort to strengthen major medical institutions and to eradicate the damage caused by the years of turmoil of the Cultural Revolution, the Chinese government began looking for the best Chinese medical doctors in the entire country. The candidates were selected through a very strict evaluation process. Dr. Kong competed with thousands of other candidates for a placement and achieved a prestigious first place position in the Heilongjiang Province.
With this extreme honor, Dr. Kong was promoted to the Academy of Medical Sciences of Heilongjiang which is the highest medical, scientific, and research institution in Heilongjiang Province. At the same time, Dr. Kong was invited as an honorary professor to teach Chinese medicine in The (Medical) Health School of Heilongjiang Province. In addition, Dr. Kong wrote/edited and published dozens of significant treatises and medical texts.
After she studied Clinical Western Medicine, she opened her own clinics which combined Chinese medicine, acupuncture and Western medicine. As a part of the acknowledgement of her successful medical career, the Chinese government awarded her the title of "Most Distinguished Physician."
After coming to the United States, Dr. Kong promptly passed the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) examination with the highest score and was conferred the title of Nationally Board Certified Acupuncturist and Chinese Herbologist in 1996. Since then, she practiced Acupuncture and Chinese Herbs at Bio Energy Medical Center, Ann Arbor, Michigan U.S.A. until she opened her own Acupuncture and Chinese Medical Center in 2004, till present.

The first time I went to Dr. Kong was upon the advice of my liver specialist. I have high cholesterol and my liver enzymes tested too high and I had to stop the cholesterol medicine.
On my first visit, after she took my pulse and examined me she asked questions no other doctor had ever asked me before. She really had an amazing knowledge of my body.
With all of my treatments, Dr. Kong has been giving me treatment for high cholesterol, high liver enzymes, migraine headaches, constipation and weight loss. All of these treatments have been very effective.
The most impressive fact is that my liver enzymes are back to normal and I am back on cholesterol medicine and the liver enzymes continue to remain normal, thanks to Dr. Kong. My cholesterol numbers are also in the normal range. My headaches always go away after treatment. My other problems have also improved.
She has treated me for other infrequent problems, always with positive results. One time I had strep throat and Dr. Kong treated me only once then all the symptoms were gone. Both my primary care physician and I were amazed at the results from one acupuncture treatment.
Dr. Kong. Is gentle, kind and I consider her as an equal to any medical doctor-actually in many cases superior to my other doctors in diagnosing my entire body. I rely on her Judgment and help with my overall health on a regular basis.
Sincerely,
Judith A. Jaukkuri

I just wanted to thank you for the wonder treatments. After my first visit, the arthritic pain in my hip-joints totally disappeared, and after a few more visits, my Acid Reflux was also just a memory. I had taken Nexium for years, and to this day, I haven't taken it again.
My granddaughter had Rapid Eye Movements, caused by medicine a doctor prescribed. After one treatment, the eye movements totally disappeared.
Thank you again.
